Is R2R in a day a good idea?

For experienced hikers in decent shape, rim-to-rim is a challenging but not overwhelming day hike with incredible rewards. That said, with such temptation so accessible to so many (5 mil/yr), the Park Service is right to dissuade as many people as they can from rim-2-rim or river-and-back day hikes.
